We recently got to enjoy Anna & Andy’s Best Day Ever – their wedding reception was held at the beautiful Labelle Winery in Amherst NH, a venue we were happy to return to for its elegance with just a touch of rustic undertones. I met Anna at her parents home, and she got ready in the room she grew up in. Anna is a dancer, and she wore her beloved ballet flats from her high school dance company on her wedding day.
And while I was with the girls, Ben was hanging with Andy and the guys…
Anna has Type 1 Diabetes (you can read more about her journey at myglu.org), something I can relate to as my dad has it. She takes incredible care of herself, but its something extra she had to make special effort to think about on her wedding day, something most brides don’t need to worry about. So she drank her orange juice while putting on her gown, to make sure her sugar stayed at the right level. Meanwhile, Dad cleaned up his mustang to drive his girl to her wedding ceremony.
We were very limited to where we chould shoot at the church…which was a blessing in disguise. Ben was restricted to the balcony and captured so many incredible shots like the one below that we actually followed this same “plan” by choice for this past weekend’s wedding!
We photographed a wedding shortly after Labelle Winery first opened last year, and it was great to be back and see the vines flourishing!
A&A invited their wedding party and parents to join them for a dance, followed by fantastic speeches…
As a surprise to her dad, Anna’s Aunt Kim played an acoustic guitar song for their father/daughter dance.
Even though their weddings are a long looooong way off, I love that I can see a wedding day through the eyes of a bride (married 7 years ago myself) and a parent, and for this reason I love capturing the expressions of parents throughout the day, like this one of Anna’s mom watching her husband and daughter during their dance.
In general, I don’t love seeing phones out at weddings. But this was one of those special cases, where Anna was able to facetime with her cousin who wasn’t able to make the wedding. Love that!
Labelle was gracious enough to let us sneak down to the cellar for a private dance and some pictures…congratulations to Anna & Andy. Best. Day. Ever!
