Amy + Kirk’s Liberty Hotel Wedding Celebration

When I tell you that Amy and Kirk have been waiting for their Liberty Hotel Wedding Celebration in Boston for years and years, I’m not exaggerating.

They tried for this wedding FOUR times, starting with their first date in April 2020. Thankfully, they didn’t wait to get married – as the world went into lockdown, they planned the most magical backyard elopement in Acton for just 9 people…and me.

It was one of the most moving weddings I’ve yet to photograph, when there was so much devastation and sadness. Their wedding day was one of overwhelming joy with the people they love the very most in this world – their family!

But now, back to their Liberty Hotel wedding celebration – the day that ALL of their favorite people get to enjoy, in one of the coolest settings in downtown Boston.

Liberty Hotel is an old jail, renovated to a modern, chic luxury hotel with a wide-open gathering space. With huge windows that let in lots of natural light. It’s a unique experience for guests, so these two stayed vigilant to their vision of celebrating their marriage here. They skipped the ceremony and focused on the party. Invitations announced that the day started with cocktail hour, followed by dinner and dancing.

Amy got ready with the help of her sweet mama and adorable sister. Her gown by BHLDN – the one she’d been waiting to wear for so long, looked like it was made for her. Elegant, charming and STUNNING.

Kirk met Amy for their first look in the Foyer Room at the Liberty Hotel – how cool is this space?! With rooms like this, we honestly didn’t even need to go outside.

I love the moment that Amy’s grandfather sees her on her Libery Hotel wedding celebration day for the first time.

Family is so important to these two, and it was especially fun for me because I already knew everyone…so I got some hugs too. 🙂 The moments in between the formal portraits are my favorite to capture, because this is where the magic of family and friendship lies.

We snuck out for a few outdoor portraits with the Liberty Hotel as the backdrop – that iconic wood door is a must!

Amy’s best girls didn’t get to be a part of her wedding day because of pandemic restrictions. So she planned a special, private first look with them before her Liberty Hotel wedding celebration started – well, this was like THE start, I’d say.

Their reactions were priceless…and then they had their own special surprises for her, including a video message from Amy’s favorite Real Housewife, Sonja Morgan!

Here’s what cocktail hour for a Liberty Hotel wedding looks like:

And here’s what the Ballroom at a Liberty Hotel wedding looks like with the most GORGEOUS florals by JNG Entertainment. Wow, wow, wow. These were some of the most magnificent centerpieces we’ve ever seen, overflowing with pink, white and cream roses and orchids.

Seeing Amy and Kirk dance during their first dance at their Liberty Hotel wedding is one of those moments that reminds me of our blessings. I’m so glad we were there to witness and capture it all for them as a timeless reminder that lives on in their album. Ready to be enjoyed and shared with their family, their journey continues, and their story grows.

Shout out to their Pastor, King of Hearts and Grace + Sam for providing blessings, love and entertainment for the rest of the night. And a huge shout out to Ashley Beck and the staff at Liberty Hotel who kept everything running smoothly with welcoming smiles for these two and their guests!

As I watched these two enjoy the wedding celebration they’ve waited so long for. Seeing their smiles and the connection with everyone they love; I felt so glad for them, that they finally got their day. I think so many of us have lived through so much disappointment and broken plans, always knowing that it could be worse, right? And then there are moments when we feel so alive, so grateful, so blessed.
