C+J’s Boston Chinese Tea Ceremony + Cambridge Wedding

This has been a whirlwind of a wedding season, and as we’re winding down to close out the year, we have just two weddings left to celebrate – today is Christina + Josh’s Boston Chinese Tea Ceremony and Cambridge Wedding!

I love the Chinese marriage traditions, including door games where the groom has to win the chance to approach his bride, and the tea ceremony where the bride and groom serve their elders tea in exchange for blessings and gifts. Christina’s bridesmaids started the day with some tough games for Josh, but he passed with flying colors – he knew which hand was hers, he answered trivia about her and even found her hidden shoe in the yard.

The tea ceremony is intimate and all about family and blessings. It feels like an honor to be present, nevermind the woman and man at the center of it all. So much love and support in one room!

When both your mom and your best friend are talented seamstresses, you get on the spot custom alterations!

Christina changed into her western wedding gown from Vows for their Cambridge wedding ceremony, and we planned Christina + Josh’s first look at MIT‘s gorgeous Great Dome building. The campus was quiet and Josh pulled Ben in for a picture while we waited for his lady.

I really like this spot for wedding portraits in Cambridge because there’s architecture to one side and the Boston skyline to the other. Josh’s best man was his dad, and Christina’s maid of honor was her sister.

November still has incredible colors! Love these foliage shots as we headed out to Le Méridien for their wedding ceremony in Cambridge.

Christina + Josh invited their sweet friend Emily to officiate the wedding. She did a phenomenal job…and the celebration started on the outdoor rooftop space at Le Méridien. The sun was warm and everyone was happy!

The celebration continued with a multiple course meal (6+ courses, I think!) at Ming’s in Malden. The ballroom was transformed by Caroline Nguyen and Victor Ng. This was Caroline’s first wedding and she absolutely nailed it. Ming's Malden wedding

This is what your first dance looks like when your bridesmaids realize your dress wasn’t bustled! Hehe, it was fixed in a jiffy and made for this adorable moment. Tea for Christina’s grandmother, who is nearly 100 and was able to make the event. What a gift!

Blessings and toasts with every table, dinner and so much dancing. Christina + Josh’s main goal was to make sure everyone felt welcome and loved and had plenty to eat! Done, done and definitely done. Ming’s is incredible. Congratulations you two – on an incredible day filled with meaning and happiness. Cheers to the same as you continue on your journey together!
