Jean & Chris’s Taj Boston Rooftop Wedding

I’ve been sitting here for the last 15 minutes trying to find the right words to begin Jean & Chris’s Taj Boston Wedding highlight. The word I keep coming back to is epic. Its a word that feels overused lately, but its honestly the one that feels most right for this incredible day. Every part of the day was perfect – from their wedding ceremony at Smith & Wollensky, to the portraits in the Boston Public Gardens to everything about their rooftop wedding reception at the Taj Boston Hotel.

“So authentically good of heart” is how Chris described his favorite thing about Jean. They’d been together for nearly 10 years, so I can only imagine the anticipation he felt as he got ready…fortunately the whole tying a bowtie thing proved to be a pretty great distraction. For a while. 🙂

Smith & Wollensky is such a gem for couples looking for an elegant indoor wedding ceremony venue in Boston, and conveniently just a couple of blocks from the Taj/Public Garden. And the event manager Catherine is welcoming and all-around fantastic.

Here’s where the smiles start, and they endure in pretty much every picture for the rest of the day. So if happiness isn’t your thing, you may want to skip out now. Meet the incredibly beautiful, incredibly kind Jean! She finished getting ready at Smith & Wollensky and patiently waited with her best girls for word of Chris’s arrival.

I love this next image of Chris & Jean’s wedding ceremony – the mix of our lights and the ambient light in the room give this picture a certain timelessness. A perfect moment frozen in time.

Married!

We headed down Arlington St to the Boston Public Garden for formal portraits with their wedding party and family.

I wholeheartedly believe that wedding portraits should bring you back to not just how you looked on your wedding day, but how you felt. We want the experience of having your wedding pictures taken to be one of the things you remember and love most about your wedding day. Fun, happy, intimate, loving, personal. And the outcome should reflect that authentic experience.

We made friends with the bubble lady to get the next one!

A huge thank you to Jane, Jean’s beautiful little sis for her help during pictures…she assisted with veil shots, held flowers and provided a fantastic happy energy throughout!

Jean & Chris had their wedding reception in the rooftop ballroom at the Taj. The views of the Boston Common and skyline are perfection, especially on a blue sky day. Not a cloud in sight! I also have to give a huge shout out to the staff at the Taj. They are accomodating, respectful and kind. So many of the servers said hello and laughed with us. They made an already-great experience even more enjoyable.

I love how the light fell just on Jean & Chris and the amazing view.

I’m so impressed – after many moves and medical school – that Jean still keeps in touch with so many of her high school girlfriends!

One of the things Jean loves most about Chris is his kindness. A trait he exhibited wonderfully in his thank you speech to their guests and also to Jean, as he told her and their friends/family how he loved her and looked forward to this day.

Blue uplighting mixes so beautifully with twinkly lights and white flowers! Uplighting by TSG Weddings.

After dinner, the night kicked off with their first dance and parent dances. Then the dancefloor opened and craziness ensued. They also had a late-night snack bar of sliders, fries and desserts. This to me should be a must-have at every wedding!

Congratulations to Jean & Chris! I hope this highlight helped with the post-honeymoon blues 🙂
