The day started at Hotel Salem. A cool hotel right in the downtown district with lots of beautiful light.
Myla had such a beautiful vision for this day, which really came through in all of her details. I’m a pale pink girl myself, so I absolutely loved playing with all of the things that she had ready for me.
These two chose to exchange vows during their first look. And I absolutely loved the moment.
They are high school sweethearts and soul mates, they’ve been together forever and know each other through and through. They’ve grown up together and have such a deep love and respect for one another.
Their vows brought quiet promises, tears and laughs. It really was the perfect kickoff to the rest of the day with their favorite friends and family.
Can we pause for a moment and talk about how incredible Myla’s bouquet is. The flowers were absolutely amazing, created by the talented Soulflora.
Myla planned a first look with the groomsmen, she is close with every single one of them and was so excited to have a special moment with them, their fantastic group of guys, and had the cutest reaction to her before we headed over to meet the girls for wedding party portraits.
Family is so important to these two and I absolutely loved seeing how they incorporated parents and grandparents into the ceremony processional.
They were married by their dear friend Christopher Hay, who did an incredible job. Almost every one of our weddings has been officiated by a close family friend or mentor, and I have to say it makes everything so much more meaningful.
Then it was on to celebrating, we finished up family portraits, but not without enjoying time together.
Jon has a family hug they’ve been doing since he was little. This is something my family does as well, and it absolutely warmed my heart to see that they’re still doing it with two boys in their 20’s.
We snuck in a few quiet moments, portraits with Jon and Myla before the skies opened up, but thankfully everyone was safely in the tent before the rain started to fall.
The tent was styled exquisitely by the incredible Caitlyn Ward of CW Events & Design, who thought about all of the details to compliment the beautiful garden surrounding.
I loved the color palette, with the mix of soft pinks, whites and greens and then pops of oranges and yellows. And the Bird’s Nest greenery absolutely put the finishing touch on the tent.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen had epic intros, and I love that they all came in together as a crew, it got the mood set right for these two in their first dance together.
Myla’s dad was emotional and knew he wouldn’t make it through his toast, so he had a stand in sidekick to help him finish it out. More family hugs. Which I’m obsessed with.
Followed by toasts by Myla’s sister & maid of honor and Jon’s brother & best man.
I mentioned earlier that Jon’s grandfather tore up the dance floor. He may have stolen the show.
Everyone had a blast. Carefree dancing, lots of hugs, lots of drinks. It truly was good times with good friends.
