My recent Worcester Art Museum wedding with Betsy and April last month will go down as one of my favorite Massachusetts weddings for a million reasons. I won’t share all here, just a few, promise. You know I can get wordy.
It starts with Betsy and April. When these two beautiful ladies visited me at my studio to talk about photographing their wedding at the Worcester Art Museum, they were already excited to work with me. They felt a great connection with my work through my site, and the same sex wedding review that my loves Jessi & Ellie left me on WeddingWire sealed the deal. And I immediately felt the same with them.
The connection with my clients is what I love about being a wedding photographer, because when I feel that connection with my couples, and they feel it with me, it makes their pictures sing. This is what I’m looking for every time I meet with a couple, and why we don’t take every wedding that comes our way. Now back to Betsy and April.
They got ready together, which I loved. They are so different, but so perfectly made for each other…just like their gowns and jewelry. While they got ready, guests started to arrive. They created a wishing tree, for everyone to leave a note for them.
I love what a small world this is…the pretty little lady in the top left picture? She’s April’s sister…and I went to college with her!
They’re both amazingly beautiful. And incredibly sweet.
While the temps were maaaaybe upper 20’s, we pushed through and took some beautiful portraits outside of the Worcester Art Museum before we gladly headed inside to warm up and get ready for their wedding ceremony. Oh and remember that wishing tree? Well, their bouquets didn’t come out as planned, so we improvised and used the feather branches of the wishing tree along with a last-minute purchase of red roses. Have I ever mentioned I used to work for a flower shop? Came in handy here…I made their new bouquets!
A grand entrance into the ceremony, which was held in the Chapter House at Worcester Art Museum.
The Chapter House is a historic, very dark room. There was security onsite to make sure no one was touching the art, and in the case of this room, that art was the actual room – walls, etc. And, not one to toot my own horn but I have to say, I’m pretty proud of my lighting. (Something important to look for when researching wedding photographers.)
The ceremony at Worcester Art Museum was so intimate. There were just 20 guests, Betsy, April and Claire Miller, a PHENOMENAL Justice of the Peace. I would definitely recommend her. Pretty sure I cried the entire ceremony. Don’t worry, I’ve found the groove of shooting through tears. For me, it works!
Betsy and April planned for some time for pictures with me before we headed to Bocado for their private tapas dinner reception.
Bocado, by the Niche Group, is one of my favorite spots in Worcester and is a great option for anyone looking for a unique venue for their intimate wedding celebration or event in the Central Mass area.
I’m not kidding when I say the food kept coming for TWO straight hours. Cheese plates, fried olives, eggplant dip, steak, and on and on.
Betsy and April invited Ben and I to join their wedding celebration as guests at Bocado wedding dinner in Worcester MA. Which we gladly accepted and fully enjoyed. But of course the cameras never fully go away. I kind of like my job (me in the top right pic).
My heart melts when I look at the way Betsy is looking at April in the picture below. Such love, pride, happiness.
Umm, they had the funnest cake cutting ever. They’re so cute.
And even though the group was small, they managed to make a dancefloor for their late-night moves. Betsy and April, thank you for inviting me to be a part of your wedding day. I feel so sincerely blessed to have met the two of you.
(Side note: So you see that this day was filled with love and happiness. When I first met with B&A, they asked, ‘Are you ok with a same sex wedding?’ Its a question I didn’t even dream still had to be asked. But I am realizing that there are still so many who discriminate. And it makes me so sad. Love is love. Love is love. And that’s it. xoxo.)

Wow! What a beautiful wedding! Pure joy…and as usual Erica delivers! I too, can’t say enough good things about her. I don’t know this couple, but got teary eyed looking at their photos…that’s capturing a wedding!
