The Vintage Orleans Cruiser

We immediately struck up a conversation and learned that his uncle was the first to drive the cruiser back in 1946, and over the years it was sold, found again, and reclaimed by the police department in Orleans. There was pride in his voice as he told us the story of this beautiful car. I asked if I could take some pictures of it for him, and we got to talking about our wedding that afternoon.

After a little convincing, he let me photograph him with the car. The late morning sun was harsh, but it worked here. I love the way the sun lights up the car but shades his face under the brim of his hat.

This wonderful man surprised us later that day, and showed up with the cruiser after his shift had ended in case the bride & groom were interested in taking some pictures with it. How extraordinarily wonderful of him! Its not often a bride and groom is handed a vintage car on their wedding day, and it allowed us to craft some beautiful portraits, like the ones below.

Thank you again, Lieuntenant Higgins!

Erica, it was a pleasure meeting you and your husband that spring morning. And, it was my pleasure to bring our ’46 to your photo shoot. I am thrilled that folks appreciate and enjoy the old police car!
