International Taj Boston Wedding

A few weeks ago I posted that I thought I photographed the wedding of the century in Boston – the wedding ceremony was at the Gordon Chapel at Old South Church followed by portraits at the Boston Public Library and Boston Public Gardens and the celebration in the Dining Room at the Taj.

Here’s Part 1, including a little bit about Mathias & Bess, and what made their wedding so incredible…

Mathias & Bess live in Oslo, Norway. I spoke with Bess about a year ago over Skype and we quickly figured out that we were a great match. They were planning to travel to Boston to get married with their closest 125 or so friends & family. Why Boston? She’s visited the city before (her brother lives just outside the city) and loved it. Plus, nearly all of their guests would be traveling from around the globe so Boston made a fairly good meeting point – between Norway, Oregon, Toronto, Croatia, Paris and even Abu Dhabi. They have an incredible story together, which includes lots of goodness for others. They are incredibly beautiful. And incredibly kind… And they love black & white pictures.

Everyone stayed at the beautiful Taj Boston Hotel, which is where Bess & Mathias got ready for their wedding….enjoy a look into their beautiful day below. Take note of some of my favorite moments – a real-life princess getting into her gown (more on why I say this in Part II), Mathias’s B&W portrait, Mathias meeting Bess halfway down the aisle at the ceremony, the wind catching her veil INSIDE the chapel during their kiss (how does that even happen?!) their magazine-worthy exit from the church and the way the sun wrapped around them as they left the ceremony, and most of all – their overwhelming joy. Joy that was contagious and spread to everyone around them through smiles, tears and kind words.
