I’ve known Nicole and Ryan for years at this point, so it thrills me to bring their Barn on the Pemi wedding highlight to you today!
The very essence of Nicole and Ryan is of love and kindness and connection. I met them originally when we photographed a friend’s wedding. We’ve been so privileged and honored to have photographed and filmed many of their friends’ and family’s weddings, including Nicole’s own brother and sister in law – Steve + Lindsey’s wedding at Whitney’s Inn in Jackson, New Hampshire.
Nicole’s bridesmaids were instant friends, and I love spending the time with them. And her sweet mama who let me borrow their room for details, photographs, and also for Nicole to get into her gown. The clear space and beautiful light was perfect. Thank you again to her dad for being displaced multiple times by me. I appreciate you!
Ryan and the guys were so easy-going until it came to the card reading… and then the pressure was on for Ryan’s delivery! He read his sweet card for Nicole out loud, bravely for the wedding film, before closing it up to be delivered with her gift.
Once everyone was ready, we headed to the Barn on the Pemi where Nicole had her first look with her dad and brother before she saw Ryan. After the first look with her dad and brother, she FaceTimed her uncle, who was unable to make it to the wedding. I love that she was able to prioritize him even from afar.
The first look, with views of the White Mountains behind The Barn on the Pemi was everything I would have ever hoped it would be… and it wasn’t even my first look! These two have so much joy when it comes to one another and you can sense their deep love and devotion.
We use the entire property for wedding party pictures and then stole them away for a few moments before their ceremony to wander the grounds and twirl in the greenhouse. Nicole was so in love with the florals on the ceremony Arbor created by The Fuchsia Peony.
People worry about not having a sunny day for their wedding…but overcast is where its at. I can’t get over how perfect the lighting was against the perfect White Mountains backdrop, but what really strikes me is the JOY. Ryan’s expression as he comes down the aisle is one I hope Nicole LOVES when she sees it in these pictures for the very first time. That JOY!
Nicole and Ryan exchanged personal vows and invited Ryan sisters to read excerpts from their favorite story and poem. It was such a happy occasion officiated by Kailey, one of Nicole’s close friends.
Family is so important to these two. Not only blood relatives, but the family that they have chosen, and I was honored to be able to jump in for a few pictures with my piece of the family. It was funny, hopping over to the other side of the camera…
The Barn on the Pemi is really a unique wedding destination venue that puts to use all of New Hampshire’s most beautiful assets from views of the White Mountains, to outdoor patio cocktail hour, to an incredibly iconic barn.
These two on the left are the start of it all! Kirsten + Rob’s State Room Wedding in Boston was the beginning of my love story with this incredible crew. Then I turned around and saw these two on the right just doin their thing!
The party moved inside to an incredible first dance and toasts that brought laughs and tears to everyone in the barn. And then the dancing, oh, the dancing. This was a fun crowd, and it’s really hard to tell how incredibly active the dance floor was from these pictures because it was so big. So everyone had room to spread out and command their own little corner of the dance floor.
Need a break from dancing? Head on outside for the apple cider doughnut food truck provided by Cider Bellies Doughnuts.
When everyone else strolled outside for doughnuts, Nicole & Ryan took advantage of the empty dance floor and had a dance to themselves. I don’t know what I love more about this moment – the two of them dancing alone without a care in the world beyond each other’s heart, or her best friend watching in the background – so happy for them.
Nicole and Ryan, thank you for including us in your wedding plans. I will forever think of your day and remember the overwhelming love and happiness and deep joy. We’re so happy we got to be a part of it.
