What can I expect at a newborn session?
You can expect an inviting & relaxing atmosphere designed specifically for baby and you. The room will be warm – 85 degrees, to be specific. Relaxing music and white noise will be playing, and there will be several sets ready for the session. There are lots of accessories & props on hand to choose from.
How long does a session last?
Sessions are typically about 2 hours. Sessions are a mix of picture-taking, feeding, diaper changing and snuggling. We allow plenty of time before & after a scheduled newborn shoot to ensure you’re never rushed.
Am I expected to do anything at the session?
Your number one task is to relax and enjoy the time out of the house. This will probably be one of your first trips out with the baby, and I couldn’t be happier to have you! Help yourself to the hot chocolate bar or extra bold coffee. I may ask you to “spot” for certain shots as safety is always our number one priority, and will also offer you the opportunity to join baby in some of the pictures.
How do we prepare for the session?
We’ll have a planning consultation to talk about what is meaningful to you and your family. This could be anything from room colors, to interests or nursery themes, and will provide initial input for the creative development of the shoot. I’ll provide recommendations on what to bring. We’ll also talk about what you plan to do with the images. You may choose to invest in wall art with a specific room in mind, birth announcements, a memory book or gift prints for the grandparents. We’ll go over this in more detail during your personal Product Selection Appointment.
How much is the session fee?
The in-studio session fee is $495 and includes a $200 product credit as well as the session planning, an array of accessories to choose from, time & talent during the shoot, and your personal Product Selection Appointment. At-home sessions are available for an additional $100 (an additional fee may apply depending on distance from the studio).
What can I expect after the session?
You can expect a sneak peek of one fully-finessed image within a week of the session. Within two weeks, you’ll be invited in for your Product Design Appointment, when you’ll get to view your portraits on our big display and choose your final products. All images purchased will receive post-processing to give your baby’s pictures that flawless finish and digital copies sized for sharing online are included within print price.
How do we book our baby’s session with you?
We book a limited number of newborns to allow our clients to shift their session depending on when baby makes her arrival. If you’d like to reserve a session for your baby, we’ll book a session 6-12 days after your due date. The session fee is due at time of booking and can be paid by check or credit card.
