An Intimate Wedding at Mount Washington Resort

A bride and groom at their Mount Washington Resort wedding in the Spring.

You probably wouldn’t expect May 1 to look like this – a snow covered Mount Washington Resort for Ashley + Paul’s intimate Spring wedding. The weather (and forecast leading up to the day) was wild! It’s always risky to check more than just 2-3 days before the day, especially in the white mountains.

Mount Washington Resort is a perfect destination wedding venue in New Hampshire with views of the White Mountains.

The new wing at the hotel is done! Ohhhh my goodness, if you’ve followed along on social media or our weddings you know I’m at Mt Washington SEVERAL times a year (check out the Mt Washington weddings we’ve photographed here!) – I recently hosted a one-woman business retreat up there for myself over the winter. This was my first time seeing the new wing and my jaw was hanging to the floor the entire time. It is seriously breathtaking – classic yet modern with tasteful decor. Ashley and her girls got ready in the Presidential Suite which had 2 bedrooms, a foyer, living room, dining room and 2 bathrooms.

The Presidential Wing at Mount Washington Resort is open and it is a gorgeous place for a bride to get ready for her wedding day. A bridal bouquet for a spring wedding by Fucshia Peony in NH.

Florals by The Fucshia Peony – Sarah + team are incredible and always at the top of our floral artist list.

Ashley’s eyes as she looked at the clearing skies – the sun showed up for the day around 3, so the combination of the clear sunny blue sky and the snow-capped mountains was pretty incredible. Ashley planned this wedding within 2 months, and she told me that since she was planning a wedding for just 20 people, she wanted it to feel extra special for everyone attending, and she wanted to make a statement with the room. Just wait until you see – statement made in the most gorgeous way. Marjorie told me that it looked like the Obamas were coming for dinner. lol.

First tears of the day were from Ashley’s beautiful mama as her daughter was about to get into her wedding gown. They wouldn’t be the last!

Let’s talk about these cuties! Ashley’s nieces were adorable all day – one was a fashionista (in reflection above), always ready to pose. The other (below) was my assistant for the day, helping me with my reflector and Ashley with her train.

The ceremony was in the Conservatory and the space was set so gorgeously. It’s hard to truly understand how big this floral display was without people in front of the fireplace. This fireplace is MASSIVE.

These two opted to stick with a traditional approach, so no first look. The ceremony was the first time they saw each other. I love Paul’s expression here, nervous, seeking eye contact. She reached out to him and he visibly relaxed.

Ashley got her very own Marilyn moment! I’ve never seen the wind swoop a dress like it did here.

The Princess Room like you’ve never seen it. This room has actually been a favorite of mine – in non-pandemic life, there’s a little bar and I loved to get a drink and relax in this room post-wedding with Ben. But wow, what a transformation. The team at Mount Washington Resort and The Fucshia Peony really outdid themselves.  I had exactly 5 minutes to grab details pictures and do this room justice. Thank goodness for off-camera flash and my new Canon R6’s.

The day was filled with laughter, happy tears and good conversation. Two families joined forever. Not only did these two get married this day, but their sweet families met – and bonded – for the very first time. It was magic. Congratulations Ashley + Paul!

What a beautiful setting for a beautiful wedding! Wishing the two of you much nachas (translation: love, enjoyment and mutual strength) in the years that follow.
