We recently celebrated the wedding of Betsy & Gavin, two incredibly kind and loving people, at one of our favorite rustic wedding venues in one of our favorite towns – that would be The Red Barn at Hampshire College in Amherst.
The weather was dreary (to put it mildly) on our ride out, but forecast said it would clear up just in time for their outdoor ceremony. Once everyone was ready (with lots of laughs and a fantastic hotel hallway party), and we arrived at The Red Barn, I was blown away to see that they had thoughtfully set up for TWO ceremonies – one outside under a beautiful oak tree and a back up for inside. This is so much additional work on their end and they did it without a wink. 15 minutes before the ceremony, the rain officially stopped and their ceremony was warm and sunny and perfect under that big old oak tree.
Betsy & Gavin’s wedding day is exactly as I thought it would be – warm and happy and loving. In the incredible rustic barn with beautiful flowers (you must see, by All Events Realized) and well-thought details.
Dance party! To a 90s “classic” – I’m pretty sure it was Wilson Philips (above). Below, one of the sweetest moments of the day was when Betsy read Gavin’s card, with tears in her eyes. Saying just “wow, his card is so much better than mine!”
At this wedding, I photographed the event and Ben recorded video. With his lovely assistant (and my little sis) Amy. Stay tuned for their video sneak peek soon!
Their ceremony was especially meaningful with Betsy’s brother, someone she’s always looked up to, as their officiant.
They included a wine box ceremony and meant to have a hammer to close the box. No worries, Betsy had it! She hammered it into place and moved on, haha, I love her expression that says “I got this.”
After portraits we moved over to the barn to celebrate. Here are some of my favorite details & moments…
Congratulations, Betsy & Gavin!
