Karen and Danielle were married on the south shore at The River Club in Scituate. The weather in November can be a gamble, and these two completely lucked out with a warm, clear fall day for their outdoor garden ceremony. They were surrounded by so much love and happiness on their wedding day, something I’ve found to be more noteable at same sex weddings. There’s an extra level of support there that adds magic to the day. Oh, and falling leaves courtesy of two phenomenal maid of honors helps add magic too!
Karen and Danielle rented an incredible seaside house in Scituate for their wedding party. The best part about having an almost entirely female wedding party (plus Karen’s brother and Best Man)? Getting ready together! I can’t even imagine how nervous Danielle would have been if she wasn’t able to spend the morning with the very calm, collected Karen. They had hair and makeup time together, and then got dressed separately so Danielle wouldn’t see Karen in her gown until the ceremony.
Renting a house is a great alternative to a hotel, and can give added photo opps. The ladies chose a home with lots of natural light and an incredible stone wall. Ben and I were happy photogs.
A Duke pin for Karen’s grandfather.
Karen’s brother Brian is awesome. Awesome. He flipped all of the switches in the limo before the driver had even pulled out of the driveway. “Laser. What’s this button do?” …he also killed it with his Best Man toast at the reception.
The River Club is such an inviting venue, with sweet wood signs throughout to welcome guests.
Danielle’s dad walked with her to the head of the aisle and stood with her until Karen and her dad met them. It was such an incredible moment.
One thing I noticed about these two throughout the day is that they are constantly taking care of each other. Fixing necklaces that had shifted, smoothing hair, moving a veil that the wind had caught. Their love is visible in even the littlest of gestures.
Danielle and Karen worked with Danielle’s grandparents for several months to make the HAPPY marquis sign for their wedding. Yes, they made it!
Their families together!
The River Club is a sweet wedding venue, perfect for anyone looking for an intimate feeling for their wedding. I loved the walls of windows and twinkle lights along the ceiling, and especially liked the stone fireplace which Karen and Danielle decorated with Mrs & Mrs wooden signs.
Dancing started before dinner, and was followed by three incredible toasts from their favorite people.
I love the range of emotion as Karen & Danielle listened to the toasts created just for them.
These two are blessed with fantastic families – both of their dads were so warm and welcoming to us, and each had a toast for the newlyweds and their guests.
Danielle is not a dancer. Not at all. I caught a picture of her on the dance floor later in the night and I felt so victorious! So it made sense that she challenge her dad to a game of cornhole instead of the traditional father daughter dance!
Happiness & Love, Karen & Danielle!!!
