Our second wedding of the year was Michaela & Brian’s at Zukas Hilltop Barn wedding, the Central Mass farm wedding venue where Ben and I were married. So photographing weddings at Zukas has a special place in our hearts, and we love coming back each and every time. Especially for sweet couples like Michaela and Brian.
I always recommend asking the floral designer for a few extra stems so we can tie their beautiful flower selection into their wedding details. Flowers frame wedding details beautifully, don’t they? These details pictures were taken on the bathroom floor. 🙂
Michaela’s bridesmaids had coordinated flannel tops that were adorable and a cute spin on the usual bridesmaid robe. They were popping champagne in one room while Michaela privately read the card Brian gave her. He’s quiet & stoic, but surprisingly sweet and had her in tears. As an ugly-crier here, I was taken with how lovely she looked as she wiped her tears.
While M was getting into her gown, Brian and his groomsmen were enjoying the rare sunny afternoon… and their custom cornhole boards.
The cutest bridesmaid first look ever! Followed by a private first look with Brian.
These are my favorite kind of portraits. We take care of the formals…but make time for some love and joy in between.
I turned and saw the girls holding hands…and so were the guys! HA!
One piece of advice if you’re planning a wedding. Have an unplugged ceremony. This has nothing to do with pictures (though not having 25 iPhones in your pictures as you’re coming down the aisle is a nice plus!) and everything to do with inviting your family & friends to be present in the moment.
Zukas Hilltop Barn wedding celebrations are in the tent during the summer season—I love Michaela & Brian’s simple, soft decor with tiny vases filled with soft light pink & white florals and dusty miller (my fave).
Zukas upgraded their head table to a custom-made farm table and Michaela & Brian were the first to use!
This moment. Where Michaela quietly cries, overwhelmed by love and gratitude for this day and everyone there for them. While Brian ate his salad. This one pictures sums up their relationship so well…and its the same for Ben and I!
After cupcake “cutting” it was a perfect time to slip away from the party for some golden hour portraits of just the bride and groom.
Cupcake station is open! Brian was first one there. “What?! They’re cupcakes!” And then it was party time, courtesy of DJ Greg Bedard.
This really was a perfect wedding day. And these two enjoyed every minute of it. Congratulations Michaela & Brian. We loved being there with you!
