The owners of Peirce Farm at Witch Hill invited Ben and I up for a tour of their newly-renovated property last summer. They & their historic estate farm wedding venue in Topsfield MA are so lovely that we agreed as we left that we needed to photograph a wedding there asap. Not two weeks later, Kristin & Jimmy vibrantly entered our lives with laughs and hugs and excitement. It was love at first sight.
I can’t even tell you how excited I was to see these two on their wedding day. We got up there early to capture the character of the farm before heading in to meet with them. Ben and Amy were the videographers for the day, so Ben started with drone footage for their wedding film…which means I also get aerial pictures. Woot!
I can’t begin to tell you how fab Kristin & Jimmy are. They are unique shining stars with exuberant personalities and hearts big with love. They shower their favorite people with love, and have a cult following in return. Present company included. I’m a fangirl, groupie, smitten kitten.
This day was one of the happiest, most loving, fun weddings because of these two. Thanks to Kristin’s gorgeous aunt, matchmaker & bridesmaid – they found their perfect match in each other. They borderline have their own secret language. Its that kind of unique connection. They also have fantastic style, and with the help of an incredible team – Peirce Farm, The Inside View & Vinwood – the day was filled with fantastic style as well. I could literally go on for days, but you want to get to the pictures, so here we go!
Preparations in the 19th century mansion…
**Kristin discovered ring lighting! GORGE.
Kristin’s mom, little sis & bestie Jenna are kindred spirits, so the morning was filled with laughs and dancing and happy tears. And holy gorgeous, batman. Kristin LOVED her gown, and she was a total goddess in it. Stella York nailed it.
Kristin gave her dad the first look of the day just outside the room where Jimmy was breaking open the bottle of Bookers that he’s waited a year to drink.
Their wedding ceremony was on the lawn across from the mansion at Peirce Farm.
So this was my FAVORITE part of the day. The best. Best. Best. We planned for portraits during cocktail hour, and the time turned into something truly special. I may have broken a sweat about getting all of their portraits finished in time, but it was worth it for them to have these moments.
Congrats K&J. So much love to you…and sooooo many more pictures!
It’s throwback Thursday! I’ve reached into the archives and pulled out one of my most favorite weddings, which took place at the beautiful Newport RI wedding venue, Castle Hill Inn. Its one of my favorites for many reasons, the biggest reason being the two beautiful people getting married – Libby & Chris. These are two of the most genuine, kind-hearted people I’ve ever met. We connected from the start, even before their firehouse engagement session…Chris is a firefighter, and he totally indulged my inner 5 year old, giving me a tour of a ladder truck and all their fire equipment. I was clearly meant to be a mom of boys!
Their day wasn’t “perfect” by general wedding day standards…it was overcast with threats of rain, and windy as anything. But it was completely their perfect day. I overheard them say several times, “this is our wedding day, and it is how it is. And that’s how we want it captured.” This sentiment still brings a smile to my face. Such amazing perspective, especially after how much time and effort goes into planning a wedding day. They were married in a secluded area overlooking the Narraganssett Bay opening with 30 of their favorite people. The rain held off just long enough for family pictures, and started just after everyone headed inside the Inn for their 5-course dinner. Theirs was a beautiful, joyful day. One I’ll always be thrilled to have been a part of.
John & Lauren’s Belle Mer Wedding in Newport RI is one of the most beautiful we’ve photographed! It was so good to get back down to Newport. Totally inspired by this beautiful city and the photo opps there. This day was a blustery one, but the sun was out in full force to make up for the wind. We started at the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island in Newport for their getting ready pictures. I love Lauren’s gorgeous Jimmy Choo’s!
I love the pride in Lauren’s dad’s eyes as he sees her in her gown for the first time.
The morning was so relaxed! It was a breeze and before we knew it, Newport Trolley was here to take us to the church. John & Lauren’s wedding ceremony was down the road at St Lucy’s in Middletown RI. The kids pulled it together perfectly for the ceremony – look at this little guy with his girls!
John’s expression when he sees Lauren is the best. And he kept stealing glances at her during the ceremony – the sweetest!
After the ceremony we headed over the Ochre Court at Salve Regina for wedding portraits. This is a gorgeous location for pictures and I’m so glad we had a bit of time between the ceremony and reception to make this stop!
We made it to Belle Mer for their wedding reception late in the afternoon, and the light was soft and beautiful.
Ben headed inside to take some pictures of this incredible Newport wedding venue while I created a few more portraits with John & Lauren outside.
Such a grand entrance into the reception! Followed by a beautiful first dance.
We snuck out just before sunset for a few minutes of quiet and a more pictures…
My favorite weddings are the ones that are personal. Chris & Libby are kindhearted, warm people who wanted an intimate wedding with an incredible location and even more incredible food. Their Castle Hill Inn wedding in Newport RI completely nailed it. Love love, love. Enjoy!
The Inn at Erlowest in Lake George is an amazing venue for a winter wedding. It is beautiful inside and out, overlooking the Lake, and the staff was absolutely wonderful – friendly, accommodating, attentive. Here’s Kerry & Jason’s Inn at Erlowest wedding preview!
Kerry and Jason wanted to get ready privately…So I got to hang with the junior bridesmaids and their moms as they got ready. This might be my new favorite. It was such a blast…the girls (and Quinn!) were awesome – braids, selfies and the perfect lip were a few of my favorite moments with these lovely ladies. And how handsome is Q?!
Kerry and Jason’s #1 priority was spending time with their family, but we were able to sneak out for a few minutes and take some beautiful pictures of the two of them before the ceremony…can you guess which is their signature pose? I think they called it the “Huggy-bear”.
Are you kidding me? I hope this ends up as a giant canvas in their home…otherwise, it may end up as a giant canvas in mine!
And then it was time to get married…Jason waits patiently for his bride.
Jason’s grandfather married them in front of 30 of their favorite people.
And then it was time to celebrate. And eat. Ahhhmazing food.
I loved the dining room. Perfectly set for 30, including a setting for myself and Ben. How thoughtful of them to invite us to join in their celebration!
They had the best signature drink – the Vesper, in honor of James Bond. For anyone who likes gin, but not tonic, this is a must-try.
Once everyone was seated for dinner, there were lots of conversation, laughs and toasts. As the newbies to the family, we got to hear their stories, and I was struck by the love stories. Jason’s grandparents met when they were 13 & 16. And his brother and sister-in-law started dating in middle school! It was pretty remarkable.
And the food. Ohhhh the food. It was as delicious as it was beautiful.
And while the sun went down on Lake George, the 5-course dinner came to an end and the dance party began! Some of the moves featured below: “punch it out” and “the matrix”
Jason cut the BIGGEST slice of wedding cake I’ve ever seen.
I love this moment between the two of them. Its as if there’s no one else in the room.
There will be more, you don’t want to miss the day-after Outhouse Race on the Lake! But before that, I have to send a sincere thank you to Erin, Kerry’s sister. She runs The Stevens Estate in Andover (a beautiful Massachusetts estate wedding venue!) and is an absolutely wonderful person. I’m so thrilled that she called me about photographing her sister’s wedding. There’s no other way I’d rather have started 2014. And to Jason & Kerry, thank you for inviting us in. We were honored to be a part of your day.
It was a fantastic weekend with a phenomenal group of people.
