Kirsten & Rob’s State Room Wedding

It’s time for Kirsten & Rob’s beautiful State Room Boston wedding! Kirsten is my email-bestie. I love this girl, and our emails have been a liiiiittle like walkie-talkies at different points of the planning process. So I was especially excited when October 3 came…it was our wedding! Hehe, ok it was their wedding. Their story is in fact even better than Kirsten & mine…pretty much fairytale. They were best friends for years. Everyone but them knew they should be dating, and it wasn’t until Rob went on a date with another woman that Kirsten realized she was in love with her best friend.

“My whole world changed and that’s when I realized I couldn’t live without him.”

Kirsten and Rob got ready at the always-amazing Langham Hotel in downtown Boston. One of my most favorite spots for so many reasons (first being the decor and staff, especially the event director Samantha!).

Kirsten was absolutely flawless on her wedding day. Flawless.

And Rob always looks handsome in a bowtie.

After surprise gifts from her little sis and Rob, it was time to put on her Romona Keveza gown. Which fit her gorgeously.

Kirsten’s dad’s first look at his beautiful daughter, as he fights tears before she heads downstairs to see Rob in BOND, the Langham’s swanky lounge.

50 mile an hour winds? Doesn’t matter. A girl of my own heart, Kirsten said, “pictures outside!”

Beautiful flowers by Mimosa’s Fresh Flower Design. I love that Kirsten did opposite colors for the bouquets – they were a wonderful compliment to the gowns.

So they’re the cutest…everyone else disappears, heading to the State Room. Its just the two of them so of course a little dance break in Post Office Square!

Even though I’ve shot in this area many times, I still love canvassing from time to time to get a fresh perspective. Here’s a shot I envisioned, but it required a little bit of walking. Kirsten & Rob were game and walked with us from the Langham to the State Room so we could make this stop in between. So worth it! I can picture this as a huge canvas in their house.

One last minute alone before heading up to the 33rd floor of 60 State Street, to their ballroom-on-top-of-the-city venue, Longwood’s State Room. The view is unreal.

Guests are welcomed into a hallway full of 24×36 illuminated portraits – Kirsten & Rob chose a mix of old family wedding portraits and their favorite engagement session pictures.

The view!

We ran from the ceremony to Fanueil Hall for a few “just the two of us” portraits before they joined cocktail hour with their guests.

The State Room looked incredible for their reception.

After their first dance, Kirsten and Rob invited everyone to join them on the dancefloor for a few songs by the always amazing Beantown Band before dinner’s first course.

Kirsten’s dad gave the first toast, and he started to get emotional as he talked about how much a parent loves their child. Then he happened to look directly at me, aaaand these are the moments I’m so glad to be able to hide my tears with my camera. I totally hear you, dad, and feel the same way about my two boys.

Beantown. Can’t get enough and I also love the backgrounds they had swirling around behind them.

Kirsten’s sister gave a wonderful toast, followed up by Rob’s best man who was nervous and so pulled up a chair to speak just to Kirsten and Rob. These were some of the most heart-felt speeches I’ve heard, with so much love and gratitude for these two incredible people celebrating their marriage.

More Beantown.

After parent dances, the dancefloor officially opens for the rest of the night. Party. Time.

Any guesses on the song that was playing to stir up this kind of passion??? Whitney Houston’s I Want to Dance with Somebody! Hehe, the guys were LOVING it.

On our way out, I caught a glance at Rob & Kirsten’s guest book and was completely taken back by the outpouring of love these two are blessed with…a true testament to the people that they are. Congratulations, Rob & Kirsten!
