I’m so excited to share Ben & Erin’s Beauport Hotel wedding highlight today! These two booked with us almost 2 years ago for their Gloucester MA wedding, so their day felt like a long time coming. We couldn’t have been more excited when it came, on a mild-for-March perfectly overcast day. (Overcast is ideal for mid-day pictures!)
Ben & Erin planned their day perfectly – amazing venue, gorgeous details, and most importantly fun, caring people who are over the moon for them. I’ll touch on the venue first, The Beauport Hotel, which overlooks Gloucester Harbor. We had a tough week leading up to wedding day and wanted to refresh for Ben & Erin…so we stayed the night before at the hotel and wowie-wow am I glad we did. This boutique waterfront hotel is the best of the best, with a welcoming and accommodating staff, incredible coffee and plush robes. Yep, I even wore the robe. Our one night felt like a week’s vacation, it was exactly what we needed. Breakfast at Sugar Magnolias in downtown Gloucester and we were ready to go.
Erin tied a piece of her mom’s wedding gown around her bouquet, designed by Petals in Peabody. I can’t begin to tell you how much love & gratitude this lovely lady had for everyone on her wedding day. She’s a kindred spirit, and like me, feels things more deeply than most. So it wasn’t a surprise when the tears started as her gown went on, as she shared a moment with her mom, sister, cousin and best friends. All who were there to support her in any way…including a hike along a rock cliff, in heels, without jackets, in the middle of winter. That’s love. You’ll see.
Erin’s beautiful mama hugged her and left the room so she could share a special moment with her dad. This is one of those moments witnessed that I’ll never forget.
Meanwhile, Ben and the guys. Getting ready for their first look on the terrace that overlooks the harbor. He had this smile all day.
Ben & Erin were married at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Beverly, a short 15 minute ride from The Beauport.
So here’s the part where Ben & Erin’s family & wedding party really get to show their love. When the trolley pulled up to the edge of Stage Fort park and we hiked through mud and chilly temps for an epic picture spot. Some shivers, yes, but complaints? Nope. #badassweddingparty
Back at The Beauport Hotel, heat lamps were set up on the terrace so guests got to enjoy the view during cocktail hour OUTSIDE in March. We were thrilled to see Marybeth & Greg, who’s wedding we photographed in 2014 (their Point Lookout wedding in Camden Maine here!), though its hard to believe its been that long!
The Grand Ballroom was ready for party time, with Kahootz Band in place for what would be an EPIC first dance. But first, Greg & the groomsmen…
Ben & Erin had a phenomenally-choreographed dance to surprise everyone. And did they! Their dance was absolutely incredible. They nailed it and they knew it, finishing with a huge kiss, high five and essentially a mike drop at the end. BOOM.
Erin’s grandfather is in a singing group, and sang a song along with Kahootz playing instrumental, while Erin & Ben danced. They also had awesome toasts by Erin’s sister, Ben’s brother and Erin’s dad. All so good, but I’m still laughing over Ben’s brother’s toast.
One of my favorite things about the day is how much these two enjoyed it. They love to dance, so even before the cake was cleared, they were dancing. They enjoyed every hug, every dance, every connection with their favorite people on the day they’ve waited so patiently for. The rest of the night is history…dancing along to Kahootz Band, Konditor Meister cake, and much love for B&E. Congratulations, Erin & Ben. We loved being there with you, and can’t wait to help you relive all the memories of the day in your complete gallery soon!
