The best change from Coronvirus and social distancing has to be microweddings, like Sabrina & Matt’s Groton MA elopement at the Bancroft Castle Ruins and Forge & Vine Restaurant.
There’s an extra magic to these pandemic weddings. There’s no fuss, no pretense, no concern about perfection or the party or anything beyond the person they’re marrying, and maybe the weather. Ok, always the weather (but I swear, don’t look sooner than 2-3 days out…it always changes from the 10-day!). For most of these couples, there’s been at least one to ohhhh 947 hiccups with wedding planning in 2020, but they’ve pushed through, focused on the end goal. Marrying their best friend.
Sabrina and Matt’s wedding day is a perfect example. Let me show you what I mean…
Before I get into the day, can we take pause and admire that she bedazzled her own shoes! Super impressed, over here. The original plan was to spend the day at the newly-renovated Groton Inn but due to Covid, the Inn wasn’t open yet. So they moved their preparation plans to the Littleton Marriott. Brand new hotel – beautiful decor and most important, big bright windows. It was 100% ok. Sabrina got ready with her mom, and dad helped slide her feet into her wedding Toms.
Matt got ready with his parents in the next room. The mood was light and happy, two families about to be joined forever.
Sabrina and Matt’s wedding ceremony was at Bancroft Castle in Groton, old castle ruins that overlook Gibbet Hill and rolling farm fields.
Their handsome furbaby Cannon was at the top, waiting patiently for his mama in his adorable wedding bowtie.
They wrote their own vows, and shared them in front of their parents and officiant – and siblings watching through zoom.
The cows provided a perfectly timed interruption, which Matt thanked them for later!
Their sweet parents. After portraits, everyone else headed down the hill while Sabrina and Matt enjoyed time together and a pretty fantastic sunset.
These two have been together for over seven years, and while 2020 has been a year we’ll never forget for so many difficult reasons, its a year they’ll never forget because it brought them their marriage…and a baby! This sweet picture of their first dance symbolizes love and hope and family. Their connection is beautiful, as is her sweet baby bump!
Dinner was at the bottom of the hill at Forge and Vine. I love that we got views from the top of the hill AND bottom. They weren’t able to bring their cake in to the restaurant, so they cut the cake on the lawn. This has to be the most picturesque cake cutting I’ve ever photographed!
“This cake is sooooo good” faces.
Sabrina & Matt, thank you for inviting me to be a part of this day. It was perfect in every way. And the celebration continues – I’ll see you so soon for maternity portraits, to celebrate the addition of your new little love!
Beautiful ❤
