There was a day in early May when the stars aligned for this Boston bride & groom. The weather was perfectly comfortable and the skies were perfectly overcast (slightly overcast is best for pictures, you know!). The tulips were blooming and the bride and groom were both incredibly laid back AND factored in a healthy amount of time for portraits. The morning started with some jitters. Ok, not on Jeff’s behalf but definitely Jen’s. But I’m willing to bet no one was surprised by this.
The first look was made for these two. After getting ready and giving me a few minutes to create some beautiful bridal portraits, Jen met her groom, who was waiting patiently on the mezzanine level of the Marriott in Boston’s Copley Square. The lobby of the hotel was bustling with hundreds (HUNDREDS) of visitors, but as luck would have it, the mezzanine, just one level up, was empty. Jen and Jeff fully enjoyed their first look at each other, as Jen proudly showed off the pockets in her gown, and Jeff didn’t take his eyes off of her. Nerves began to subside.
We headed to the Boston Public Garden for wedding portraits with family and their wedding party, and even had time to sneak in a few of just the two of them before hopping back on the trolley to St Cecilia’s on Belvidere St. Their ceremony was sweet and just the right length, and a limo waited outside for Jen, Jeff, Ben and I to make a quick trip around the city. We covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time, laughing all the way, making stops in Beacon Hill for wedding portraits, including a beautiful bride & groom picture on the iconic Acorn St. We discovered a beautiful hidden gem up there (how amazing is the little alley in between the brick buildings! The light was heaven.), and created beautiful Boston skyline shots from across the canal in the seaport area.
Jen & Jeff invited me to join them as a guest at their reception at Maggiano’s. And am I ever glad I accepted! They seated me with Jen’s sisters, who were wonderful company. And the food! The food just kept coming, each course more delicious than the first.
Congratulations Jeff & Jen. May these pictures of Boston remind you of home, happiness & love while you get settled in your new home, 3000 miles away!
