Kristin & Robbie’s Stratton Mountain Wedding

For Kristin & Robbie, there’s nowhere more special than Stratton Mountain. They love to ski and have headed up there nearly every winter weekend for years. Their heart is there, so the Stratton Mountain Club was the perfect place for their wedding day.

This was our first trip to Stratton Mountain, so Ben and I headed up a day early to explore and shoot B-roll for their wedding video (we will also be providing a cinematic wedding film…we can’t wait for you to see!).

Wedding nightmare turned adventure #1 – Robby and his buds had time to kill in the morning, so they rode the gondola up to the top of the mountain. Then…at the top…the gondola shut down! But Stratton Mountain to the rescue. They hopped in a huge ATV and got a ride back to the bottom. Making lemonade from lemons, right there!

Robby gave all of his guys maple liquor – Sapling Liquor – from a Saxton River Distillery. They surprised us with a bottle as well, and I can confirm it is amazing. In coffee, by itself, just yum.

Kristin and her girls were just a few rooms down in the most gorgeous suite at Stratton Mountain. They were in Hearthstone Lodge. Kristin’s smile is infectious, and she wore it all day. She’s sweet and lovely and I’ve looked forward to this day so much because of her (and her adorable mama!).

Over the years, Robby has made Kristin many crayon-colored books for special occasions, and he surprised her with one on their wedding day. He was banking on making her cry, and he did!

We had grand visions of a first look at the top of the mountain. Well, mother nature had Wedding Nightmare Turned Adventure #2 in store for us – a storm rolled in right as Kristin arrived at the top. Literally rolled in – you could see the fog and clouds. It worked out to be photo & (especially) video magic. One of the most dramatic first looks we’ve captured! It changed plans, but the skies were sunny at the base of the mountain so all was good.

We didn’t get to spend much time at the top of Stratton Mountain, but the gondola ride down was awesome, and their furbaby was waiting for them at the bottom! Plus the stormy skies made for the most dramatic background…

We had the best time with pictures, and the base of the mountain worked beautifully. Hint for wet ground pictures – bring a white towel for the bride to stand on. On to Chapel of Snows for their ceremony, officiated by Father Joseph Rossi, who married Kristin’s parents nearly 30 years ago!

Wedding Planning Tip: Want your guests to be fully present for your ceremony? Don’t want cell phones in your pictures? Make your ceremony an unplugged event!

I love this picture of Kristin’s anticipation, captured by our second shooter Tiffany.

We spent some time taking pictures around Stratton Mountain before heading to the Club. And of course we have to dance outside before heading in to cocktail hour!

Kristin’s sweet mom! Will you still visit us, Joanne??? She made this day happen, wanting to give her daughter the wedding of her dreams. And she was even the cake artist! The cake was so good. We will not complain if you ever want to bake The Ewings a cake. Wink, wink. YUM.

The only thing better than wedding cake?! Cake followed by Ben & Jerry’s ice cream! These two told us about the ice cream cart when we first met. THE BEST.

Their wedding weekend was incredible. There were laughs and happy tears, gondola rides and sunny skies. Love and happiness abound. We can’t imagine not being there with them, to capture it all in pictures and video. Kirstin & Robby, we adore you and can’t wait to watch your relationship continue to grow, now as a married couple!
