Nancy & John’s Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel Winter Wedding

“I’m so glad we photographed their wedding,” Ben said as we left Nancy & John’s wedding at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel in Boston’s Seaport District.

They planned an intimate winter wedding for 30 of their closest, most favorite people. It was to be a warm and glamorous event, and sounded right up our alley. But the catch was that it was the day after Christmas. With two small boys at home, we envisioned the day after Christmas as one spent in jammies playing with new Thomas the Train toys and building lego superheroes. Until I received a call from Nancy. I learned more about her and John, and their vision for their wedding day, and why it was so special to them. And so we changed out of our jammies on December 26 and headed into the city to spend the day with this welcoming couple and their favorite people. Boy, are we glad we did. And December 27 turned into our jammies & legos day. 🙂

The day turned out just as Nancy had hoped. Lots of love and laughter, happiness and warmth, sparkle and glamour. This will go down as one of our favorites. Here’s a glimpse into their beautiful wedding day.

Nancy wore the most beautiful gold gown, adorned with crystals and gold buttons.

Nancy was beyond radiant on her wedding day, with a smile that never left her face for a moment.

It was cold out, but “we’re hearty” said Nancy, and so out we went. A tip for winter wedding portraits outside is to get a warm, fuzzy jacket like Nancy’s here…something you and your honey can snuggle in. Keeps you warm and looks cute.

Behind the scenes of Ben – always the gentleman. 🙂

Bliss.

I just CANNOT get over her gown. She wore it beautifully.

The main part of their indoor wedding ceremony at the Renaissance Waterfront Boston Hotel was a special blessing of the rings. A rope circled the room, and their guests each took a turn saying a blessing with their rings. Once everyone had a chance to say a few words, the rope was tied, and they exchanged their rings. It was the first time we’ve seen this, and it was a beautiful ceremony. Perfect for a small wedding.

And the rest of the evening was just as wonderful as the beginning. The Renaissance Waterfront Boston Hotel truly outdid themselves with the four-course meal (we were delighted to be invited to indulge in every course…it was AHHmazing), and dancing without hesitation thanks to the workings of DJ Tim Johnson.

Congratulations to Nancy & John. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your most special wedding day!
